BTCWare Ransomware run as an ordinary file encrypting threat. Report says this new variant is distributed uniquely; the cyber crook uses an application-“Rogers Hi-Speed Internet”. On a successful invasion, without wasting time it starts indexing certain files. Then encrypts these files and appends “.btcware” in the file extension name. Then this malware creates an HTML file- (“ #_HOW_TO_FIX_!.hta.htm”) and places it in the desktop. This HTML file contains a short message which instructs the user to visit a TOR website. On opening the TOR website, users are charged a ransom amount of 0.5 BTC (which is equivalent to $521.92) to restore the files.
Unfortunately, the developer of this ransomware provides no additional information as decryption without unique key is impossible, and they hide the key in a remote server. The offenders are supposed to transfer the key once the victims make the required payment, which they have to enter in the Command Prompt window with biznet.exe-d_your_decrypt_key. Currently, it is not known that BTCWare Ransomware uses symmetric or asymmetric cryptography. In fact, paying ransom doesn’t guarantees that victim will get decrypting key, once the criminals gets money they ignores the victims. Taking advantage of the situation these offenders also threats the victims to make payment of the ransom within 24 hours or the key will be removed from the server permanently.

BTCWare Ransomware Variant Won’t Decrypt Files After Paying Ransom Money
Typical ransomware like BTCWare Ransomware encrypt files mainly on network shares and then create a note with all the instructions to pay the ransom money with bitcoins by using the Tor network. The PC attackers set up a (C&C) Control and Command server to collect all the information about your PC and regarding how to provide the decryption key. This nasty infection follows all the steps but at last fails to decrypt files after payments. Infact by paying the said ransom, you just encourage the malware developers in making more infection.
Once you pay the said amount and it is verified, you will notice a download link on your BTCWare Ransomware decryptor page which will allow you to download the decryptor key. In reality these are just a trap, it will never decrypt your file.
